To these ends we have developed impressive systems to engage in continuous dialogue with students and parents on individual potential and performance. Extra-curricular activities, visits and opportunities are a particular feature of the school, and the diversity, scale and quality of what is available testifies to the outstanding dedication and commitment of our staff. There is a marked sense of belonging to a 'Coombe Dean community' that imbues most stakeholders. It is epitomised by the friendly and open nature of relationships that are such a strong feature of the school. Our approach is personalised to individual needs and circumstance, with the quality of provision defined by what we would wish for our own sons and daughters. National benchmark awards for quality convey an important message of Coombe Dean as a learning community committed to high standards; we strive to achieve them, we take pride in maintaining them and we aim to improve upon them. We strive to be an effective school, always working to make a difference, ensuring that what should happen does, and what might be possible becomes so. To achieve this we seek to empower students as well as staff, parents as well as Governors, by seeking their help in articulating a clear vision, so that everyone understands what we are seeking to do and how they might best help in realising it. Having determined upon a community role a few years ago we have increasingly found means to realise it, and it continues to energise and enhance the learning community of the school in so many ways. |
