Our ambitions for our students were eloquently captured by two parents who wrote independently to Ofsted and whose comments were quoted in the inspection report of 2009. One parent wrote that:
“The school seeks to tap into the best of each child and looks for ways through the curriculum to help them develop their areas of interest and expertise”
while another described how Coombe Dean is:
“encouraging our children to grow into responsible, mature young adults, responsible for their learning, their behaviour, the environment and those around them.”
We were delighted with Ofsted’s description of Coombe Dean as “An outstanding school where students flourish in an environment that embodies a strong sense of community, responsibility and inclusion.” To be described as “outstanding” is an accolade coveted by every school, but we were especially pleased that the ethos of our school was also singled out for particular recognition in the opening sentence.
