The evening opened with a top quality performance of Jorge Ben’s ‘Mas Que Nada’ from ‘Resonance’, the Vocal Ensemble directed by singing tutor Laura Ilsley. This is one of the most popular ensembles currently running in the school which incorporates students from all Key Stages. With the added enthusiasm and input of the new Year 7 recruits, including Breakthrough Musician Lucy Cole
and Musician of the Year Emily Galloghly it is clear that the revolution of vocal music at Coombe Dean is well under way.
What a night for Music at Coombe Dean. The fifth Annual Music Awards Evening was one of the best yet and a proud moment for everyone involved.
Mr Woodlock expertly compered an evening of celebration and performances from students throughout the year groups showcasing the cream of Coombe Dean’s musical talent.
It has been clear that over the past couple of years, the sound quality of the music performances has improved under the watchful eye of Mr Sinclair. In addition, he has founded the Rock Band ‘Luminal’who took to the stage to perform cover versions from two of the biggest bands of all time, U2 and The Beatles. As ever the songs were tight and well delivered with some very impressive harmonica playing from Year 9s, Josh Watts. The rest of the band comprised of Bethany Hosking, Nick Anderson,
Zoe Hamilton, Sarah Couch and Xhenis Alimadhi.
