Post 16 Provision
For students, the transition from Year 11 to Year 12 is the biggest you will face since joining secondary school. This is the transition to the beginning of independence. Here, you are young adults and are treated as such. Time in the Sixth Form is about the transition between school and the rest of your life. The absence of the uniform requirement, the introduction of study periods and the access to purpose-built post 16 facilities all help to foster this transition to independence. With this independence comes increased responsibility and accountability. Both you and we, as a school, have a vested interest in the standards you achieve as they will be the benchmark for the next phase of your life.
Whether, after your time in the Sixth Form, you want to go directly into work, on to an apprenticeship, to further education college or university / higher education college, you will be supported with a programme tailored to your individual needs to help you realise your ambitions from our specialist Post-16 Leadership team, including careers advice.
The support, environment and resources that are available to Post 16 students has never been better. We are confident that all students willing to commit to progressing and being successful can do so as a Sixth Former at Coombe Dean.
