Well Done Our Year 11

At the end of what will have felt like another intense 8 days of formal mock examinations, I wanted to take the opportunity again to recognise the manner in which our students in Year 11 have conducted themselves. This applies equally to the time leading up to this period of assessment and to the time over the past 8 days while the assessments were taking place.

What we have experienced as a school is another period of mock assessment that has run (largely) without incident and with an approach from our young people that has been a credit to themselves, their parents and to our school community. The way that students have observed the rules and expectations around the conduct of examinations and the way that they have responded to their teachers, support staff and our exams staff has once again been a source of great pride to the school. To that end, thank you and very well done.

My teaching colleagues are now working hard to mark and moderate these assessments so that the results can be shared with students as soon as possible and so that (arguably) the most important outcome of conducting mock examinations can once again be realised - understanding how well students have learnt the curriculum and making adjustments to teaching plans as necessary, moving forward.

We plan on publishing the outcomes in the form of a mock grade (specific to the mock exams just taken) and a current working grade (taking in any wider elements of the course of study) towards the end of this term (in early April).

There are now just some 7 weeks of school left before the 'real thing'. Details of specific arrangements for the exams starting in mid-May will be released in late April, shortly after the Easter break.
