Amazing Year 9 Girls Rounders Success!

The Year 9 Coombe Dean Rounders Girls Team had their first fixture yesterday, hosted at the home ground itself. The first game Coombe Dean were to play was against Plympton Academy. The girls were apprehensive, anxious and their adrenaline was pumping. Our teams fielding performance got off to a brilliant start with demonstrating high levels of communication, which resulted in them getting six of Plympton Academy players out early on. They then went on to show a brilliant attacking display, hitting home an incredible eight full rounders – seeing Daisy catching the opposition by surprise with her stupendous left hit, and both Beth and Grace batting massive hits. The girls went on to have a brilliant first victory, calming all the nerves with an 8 to 2 1/2 win.

After a tremendous first display, our girls had grown in confidence for the next game to be played where their skills were to be tested even more. The game versus Lipson proved to be a much more challenging game than the first, and the girls kept their heads held high and their wits about them. It came to a very narrow victory for them, who went on to win the game 8 1/2 to 7 – another brilliant win and an excellent display from the girls who each played a crucial part in the victory!

Our Year 9 Rounders Girls Team consisted of: Emilia C, Madeline S, Eva D, Bethany M, Lucy J, Ellie B, Madeleine G, Robyn T, Daisy E, Maddie and Grace H.

First fixture; two games and two wins. Go Year 9 Coombe Dean Rounders team! Roll on the next fixture!
