Important Headteacher Announcement Regarding the Return to School

I hope you and your family enjoyed a break from school work last week. I fully understand that your child learning at home has impacted on you and your family greatly.

We are pleased that our pupils will be returning to school soon and that we will be able to return to learning in the classroom. We wish to thank all of you for supporting the remote learning so well during the early Spring term.  The purpose of my letter today is to assure you that we are working through the detailed guidance to plan a safe return to school life which will need to encompass Lateral Flow Testing.

We will endeavour to give you as much information as we possibly can by the end of this week, and at the latest, by the early part of next week.  It is likely to contain some element of phasing the return to school to make it as safe as possible and allow for testing in line with government guidelines.

In the meantime, please continue to support remote learning as the work pupils will be doing when they return to school will follow on from the work they are set?  The priority is completing the work set from 23rd February and not necessarily catching up on work from last term.

Another useful activity to support their return to school will be locating and trying on their uniform!  No doubt they will have grown during this period of time and we wish to reduce anxiety as much as we can in the lead up to returning to school.   Here is the link should you need it:  https://www.coombedean.co.uk/the-school/uniform/

At the same time, please could you assist your child in locating their school equipment and gathering their school work together, as they may wish to bring some of it in to share with their teachers?  Much may have been submitted online but there may well be some work to hand in upon their return to school.  Here is the link for equipment:  https://www.coombedean.co.uk/about-us/ready-to-learn-school-equipment-list/

Please do contact your child’s tutor, in the first instance, if there are any issues regarding uniform or equipment, as we will support where we can.

Miss Dennis will provide an update regarding school routines and expectations by the end of the week – as we have made some improvements to our support offer during lockdown.

Many thanks for your continued support.
