We were so pleased to be back to school in September, but unfortunately, due to the ongoing pandemic, we had to shut our doors once more in January. This brought on some challenges, but even more so to our pupils who are Young Carers or who have suffered a bereavement in their families.
Due to some amazing fundraising and kind donations, we were able to send out ‘Halo Boxes’ made up by our in-house Catering Team. These included local products supplied to us by Tamar Fresh, which allowed pupils to follow recipe suggestions (included), to make memories and to take the pressures off their house-holds just a little.
We could not decide on a winner, so local celebrity Chef, Peter Gorton, stepped in to judge along with Tamar Fresh. Year 7 pupil, A Barbier, wowed the judges with her skills of making a chocolate volcano cake, and Year 11 pupil, T Adhikari, was recognised for her amazing presentation of a sweet and sour chicken dish. As a result, both received a hamper of goodies each!
We hope to see you all back to school soon. In the meanwhile, do not be a stranger; keep coming to lessons virtually, and do let us know if you need any further support with anything. Also, watch this space as Chef Peter Gorton has offered to come in again when we are all back, to give us a demonstration on how to cook to a Michelin 🌟 level!
