Primary Schools Jump and Rebound Festival

Students from Years 7, 9, 10 and 13 were excellent ambassadors for Coombe Dean when they assisted as Sports Leaders at the PSSP (Plymouth Schools Sports Partnership) Primary Jump and Rebound Festival yesterday.  Isaac W, Ethan K, Maddie C, Lucy J, Mia S, Ollie C, Jack R, Cecylia S and Jess Y are all members of the Coombe Dean Aspire Gymnastics Club.  They assisted at the festival by demonstrating correct techniques, as well as motivating and organising the 48 very excited primary school pupils to perform to the best of their ability.

Year 3 and 4 pupils from Oreston, Elburton, Montpelier, Wembury, Pomphlett, Goosewell and Dunstone, all took part in the festival. After an extensive warm-up and activities to ensure the children were able to take off and land safely, we moved onto a rotation of four stations – where dynamic jumping was the name of the game. Using the airtrack, springboards, and trampettes to gain height and distance, the children were able to jump and rebound across the equipment – to land safely on the crash mats.

Visiting staff commented that Coombe Dean leaders were fantastic in their roles.  Well done to all involved, and many thanks to Aimee and Abi (our Aspire Gymnastic Coaches) for ensuring that the morning ran so smoothly!
