Saltram House at Christmas

Last week, our Year 8 Outdoor Learners had an excursion to Saltram House, to learn about Christmas traditions in our local  community.

On arrival we headed for the cafe, where we enjoyed a buffet lunch with sausage rolls, mini scotch eggs, Pringles and Jaffa Cakes. We  then had a bit of time to go and look in the shop to see what they had on offer. We found harmonicas, crystals and Christmas goodies!

Next we visited the house to have a tour of the beautiful decorations within. The themes this year were Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Alice in Wonderland, Princess and the Frog and the Night Before Christmas.

The students particularly enjoyed hearing the stories of the different themes, as recounted by Saltram’s own volunteers. It was then time for a hot chocolate and the ‘chocolate game’, which the students really enjoyed!
