I would like to thank a number of parents, working in the field of health, who have been in touch regarding our proposal to temperature test all pupils on their entry to school next week. I am pleased that this has been viewed as an extra layer of reassurance during these worrying times. Based on advice from health professionals we have slightly amended our protocol with regards to the threshold temperature. In line with settings such as GP practices we will only ask pupils to have a second temperature test if their temperature is above 37.8C.
Can I also take this opportunity to remind pupils travelling on public transport that they should be wearing a face covering, to meet government guidance. If they are not planning to wear the face covering in school then they should bring a clean plastic bag in which to store the covering, inside their school bag, in readiness for use on the return journey. All such face coverings should be washed on a daily basis. If using disposable face masks these should be removed and disposed of carefully. Regardless of the type of mask/covering pupils should sanitise their hands before and after handling it.
We look forward to welcoming Year 10 and 12 pupils back to school on a part-time basis next week.
