Student Parachute Jump for St Luke’s

“I was inspired to complete a 5,000m skydive after seeing a poster advertising a fundraising event for St luke’s Hospice. This amazing charity helped our family so much when my grandma was diagnosed with lung cancer. On seeing this advertisement, I thought this was a great opportunity to give back to this charity and push myself towards completing this challenge.

Since October I have been collecting donations and counting down the days. This Saturday was jump day – it had finally arrived, and as I edged myself towards the plane opening, I couldn’t quite believe what I was doing! I stepped out of a plane, free-falling for a minute before my parachute opened.  As I landed, I was speechless and overwhelmed at what I had just achieved.

After this eye-opening experience, I am excited to do more events like this. I would like to say a huge thank you to my friends and teachers who helped me to raise approximately £700 for St Luke’s Hospice.”

Abbie T, Year 11 student.
