General Subject Statement: The Business Studies Department aims to foster and promote pupil interest in the world of business and to develop an understanding of the impact businesses can have on the individual.

Nature of assessment: Two written external examinations, each two hours each and both worth 50% towards to GCSE grade.

Key Stage 5 – Years 12-13

Subject statement: This subject is aimed at subject who have an interest in pursuing a career within business. Students will be expected to read around the subject matter shown an interest in current affairs and be willing to involve themselves within the subject matter.

Unit 2 Developing a Marketing Campaign Unit 4 Recruitment and Selection

Exam Board: Pearson Edexcel

Overview of topics covered:

  • Developing understanding of different types of businesses and their environments
  • Understanding marketing and how to develop a marketing campaign
  • Gain understanding of financial aspects of business
  • To examination the processes in recruitment and selection of individuals.

Nature of assessment: The assessment process for the course is split between coursework, external assessment and external written examination.

  • 50% of the course is internally assessed, 25% external written examination and 25% externally assessed controlled assessment.
