On Thursday 7th February, 34 very able Mathematicians from Years 9 and 10 took part in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge, which is aimed at students in Year 11 or below. The Mathematical Challenges aim to stimulate mathematical problem solving, and involves answering 25 multiple choice questions in one hour, all under exam conditions.
The top 40% of students nationally receive a Gold, Silver or Bronze certificate in the ratio 1:2:3. One student in each year will receive a ‘Best in Year’ certificate, and one student will receive a ‘Best in School’ certificate. In addition, the UKMT invite around 1,500 of the very highest performers to take part in the Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad – and around 8,000 to take part in the Intermediate Kangaroo.
Well done to everyone who took part. The results and certificates will be published and distributed within the next 3 weeks.
