Coombe Dean School is an 11-19 mixed comprehensive Academy on the south eastern edge of Plymouth and is part of Westcountry Schools Trust – a cross-phase MAT of 13 schools, which is expected to grow further in the future. There are in the region of 1040 students on roll, with approximately 150 Post 16 students. We are keen to see that number increase to our Post 16 PAN of 280.
Coombe Dean has a unique ethos centred around our strapline of “Success built around positive relationships.” We are looking to appoint an ambitious and innovative leader who will enhance our current practice at Post 16. We seek a creative individual with an eye for detail who will ensure that every student is able to gain excellent qualifications whilst developing the personal attributes that we consider necessary to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
The successful candidate will join the leadership team at an exciting time as we respond to our recent inspection and the newOfsted framework, with a staff committed to securing an excellent education for all. They will have the opportunity to redefine the pastoral structures within our Post 16 provision and work with Subject Leaders to develop our Post 16 curriculum intent and implementation.
Whilst the main focus of this role is centred around Post 16, the appointee will be expected to contribute to the wider life of the school as part of the senior leadership team. As such the final job description will be refined to best suit the experiences and interests of the successful candidate.
