About us

At Coombe Dean School success is built around positive relationships. It is the heart of what we believe and the heart of what we do.  It makes our school a place where students, staff, parents and visitors alike feel safe, secure and able to achieve their ambitions.

Success comes in all shapes and sizes at Coombe Dean: artist, musician, mathematician, scientist, technologist, sports person, historian, geographer, linguist.  Whatever subjects your child loves, you can be confident that Coombe Dean staff will nurture and encourage them.  We will do this in a way that combines academic excellence with fantastic personal development. This is true for our wide range of clubs, activities and trips, as well – at Coombe Dean, we believe that children learn vital lessons and skills both inside and outside the classroom.

We live in a global society.  Our world is internet-driven and increasingly automated.  This means that tomorrow’s workforce – your children and our students – will need to be expert in communication and creative thinking.  They will need to understand themselves and know how to work with all kinds of different people – possibly from all over the world.  At Coombe Dean we know that we can best meet this challenge by encouraging our students to be confident, curious learners.  This is the fuel that drives our teaching and their learning – wherever it takes place.

Of course, some of the challenges our children face are unknown.  The world outside is changing at an incredible speed.  Children today need to be prepared to take on jobs that are going to change fast and may not even exist yet.  At Coombe Dean, we understand this and we are excited by the challenge this offers.  We build on a bedrock of literacy and numeracy; we provide a broad, balanced range of secondary school subjects, and we ensure that our students develop employment and social skills that they can carry with them.  We believe that this combination will unlock your child’s potential to embrace change, to face the unexpected and to be successful.

We look forward to welcoming your child and helping them grow into a confident, young adult, equipped to achieve their ambitions and motivated to pursue their dreams.
