Coombe Dean School

About Us

At Coombe Dean we believe in Community, Integrity, Opportunity, and we work hard to ensure that these values are at the heart of everything we do.

Community is founded on a sense of belonging.  Our smart uniform, positive behaviour, effective  pastoral care and welcoming green spaces help to make Coombe Dean a place where students, staff, parents and visitors share feelings of pride, safety and security.  We build on this foundation by helping our students to understand their place in the world – from their connections with friends and neighbours to the demands of working in our global society – ensuring that they are equipped to work well with all kinds of different people.  We strengthen our community by enabling all our members to have influence through our student leadership programmes, tutor groups and year groups.

Integrity at Coombe Dean begins with a simple but challenging idea: consistently doing the right thing, even when no one is looking.  We bring this idea to life with a rich curriculum and lively extra-curricular programme, which help our students to develop their understanding of the world and of themselves.  They learn to be open-minded and reflective, and to value the beliefs and needs of others.  They are encouraged to be confident and curious in their learning.  This approach nurtures the qualities of responsibility, resilience and empathy, which are essential in helping our young people to recognise and choose to do the right thing.

Opportunity at Coombe Dean grows from our challenging but accessible curriculum and our excellent teaching and learning.  We place the vital skills of literacy and numeracy at the centre of our learning; we provide a broad, balanced range of secondary school subjects; our inspirational and approachable staff make learning effective and enjoyable.  This ensures that our students achieve the academic qualifications and develop the employment and social skills they need to unlock their potential and be successful.

We look forward to welcoming your children to our learning community and helping them grow into confident adults who have integrity, who are ready to embrace opportunities, and who are equipped and motivated to pursue their dreams.
