January Return Arrangements

I am writing to update you about the arrangements for this January’s return to school.  The Government is very concerned about the new variant of Covid 19, Omicron, and this caution has a direct impact on how students will return to school in the New Year.  Once again, the Government requires the school to carryout LFD testing prior to normal lessons commencing in school.

To try and reduce the impact as much as possible to support students’ education and parents, the school’s plan is to carryout LFD testing in one day for all students on 4th January 2022.

The Lateral Flow Testing in school will follow a similar pattern to the system used in September after the summer break; the testing facilities in our Sports Hall/Gym and the routines and expectations for students around testing are now familiar.

We are asking parents and students to support the school by arriving on time for their slot to ensure the large numbers of students being tested can be achieved.

Students who have not completed the consent form are asked to complete the form and return it promptly, either electronically using the link on the school website or printed as a hard copy and handed into the test centre.  Parents who have already completed the form do not need to resubmit a new one.

We are asking parents and students to support the school by arriving on time for their slot so that the testing procedure can keep on track throughout the day.

Entrance to the facility will be through the fire door on the left-hand side of the sports hall.  Students will need to wear masks when entering the gym.

On entering the facility students will be given a set of barcodes to register and then asked to sit down. There will be a short explanation on how to complete the registration.  Students will be asked to then complete the form; help sheets and staff will be available to support students through the process.

Registering the barcode can be done using two methods on either a mobile phone or computer.  The school will have computers set up for students who do not have access to mobile phones.  The quickest and most efficient way to register is by mobile phone.

Registration

Students will be asked to scan the QR Code which takes them to the Government Registration Form.

When you click on the start button there are a number of questions that require answers.  Students will need to know the following information to complete the registration, we recommended the information is written down as it is unfamiliar to the student.

  • Post code and house number.
  • Their mobile number or parents’ number.
  • House landline if available.
  • The registration will ask for an NHS number if known. (10 digits)

Testing

Once the student has completed the registration process, they will move to the testing area in the small gym.

The tester will take the student through the process. When the test is complete, we are asking students to depart the school site immediately. This will support the school with parking and administration. The result of the test will be uploaded to the NHS track and tracing system. If the student has a positive result the school will contact parents prior to uploading it to the Government site.  If the school does not contact you the test will be negative.
