World Mental Health Day – Coombe Dean Wears Yellow

The school has marked the day by wearing yellow, a colour symbolising hope and support for mental health awareness.

World Mental Health Day, observed every year on October 10th, is a global initiative to raise awareness of mental health issues and mobilise efforts in support of mental well-being. It’s a day to reflect, connect, and show solidarity with those who may be struggling—and to remind ourselves that mental health matters every day.

At Coombe Dean, our students have embraced this message with compassion and creativity. Led by the Year 13 Senate, the school has been preparing to mark the day by wearing yellow, a colour symbolising hope and support for mental health awareness.

In the lead-up to the day, students from across the school stayed after hours in the library, led by Year 13 student Lila and supported by Miss Jones, to create a powerful visual display: paper chains filled with messages of support, encouragement, and solidarity. These chains will be displayed in the school canteen as a reminder that no one is alone, and that kindness and connection can make a real difference.

The initiative has brought students together in a spirit of empathy and action, and we are proud of the leadership shown by our Sixth Formers in promoting such an important cause.
