Pi Day Challenge

Last week, students across the school took part in our annual Pi Day celebrations—a fantastic opportunity to explore mathematics in creative, practical, and enjoyable ways. The day (held globally on 14th March, or 3.14) is dedicated to the mathematical constant π (pi), and our Maths Department made sure it was filled with energy, curiosity, and plenty of challenge.

Throughout the week, students engaged in a range of Pi‑themed puzzles, investigations, and competitions designed to stretch their reasoning skills and bring maths to life. From logic tasks and codebreaking activities to circular geometry challenges, classrooms were buzzing with problem‑solving and teamwork.

A highlight for many was the Pi Challenge Competition, where students attempted everything from estimating the value of π using hands‑on measurements to memorising digits of the famous number. Some demonstrated incredible recall, proving that mathematical passion runs deep in our school!

Teachers were impressed not only by the accuracy and creativity shown, but also by the perseverance and positive attitude students brought to each task. The event offered a brilliant reminder that maths is not just about numbers. It is about thinking deeply, collaborating, and celebrating curiosity.

A huge well done to all who took part, and a special thank you to the Maths Department for organising such an inspiring week. We’re already looking forward to next year’s Pi Day celebrations and even more mathematical adventures!
