History Comes to Life at The Box: Year 7 and Year 8 Visits

Over the past two weeks, our Year 7 and Year 8 students had the fantastic opportunity to visit 'The Box' Museum in Plymouth as part of their History curriculum.

Across both visits, students engaged brilliantly with the rich local history on offer, exploring artefacts, exhibitions and interactive displays that brought their classroom learning to life. From discovering Plymouth’s past to examining real historical objects, students were able to deepen their understanding while developing key skills such as enquiry, interpretation and critical thinking.

Our Year 7 students approached the visit with curiosity and enthusiasm, asking thoughtful questions and making excellent links to their recent learning. Year 8 students built on this with mature and reflective engagement, particularly in their exploration of how local history connects to wider national and global stories.

Both year groups represented the school exceptionally well. Staff and museum educators commented on their behaviour, focus and genuine interest throughout the day, which was a real credit to them.

These visits are a vital part of our commitment to providing meaningful and memorable learning experiences beyond the classroom. They help students to see history not just as something in a book, but as something real, relevant and connected to the world around them.

We are incredibly grateful to all staff and parents who supported the trips and made these opportunities possible.
