Goodbye Year 11!
On Thursday 11th June, we celebrated our wonderful Year 11 leavers in style.
After a morning spent demonstrating their resilience with science revision or Geography exams, students made their way to the gym for a well-deserved moment of reflection and celebration.
They were greeted by a wall of photographs, where photographs of each student from their very first days at Coombe Dean were placed alongside images from this year. It was a powerful reminder of how much they have grown during their time with us. The atmosphere quickly filled with laughter and nostalgia as students took part in the traditional shirt signing. Many had brought thoughtfully pre-decorated shirts, which soon became even more colourful with messages and memories from friends and staff.
Students enjoyed refreshments together, sharing stories and marking the end of this important chapter, before sitting down for a short presentation. A highlight of the event was a stunning video compilation of their journey through Coombe Dean, created by Mr Yeung. Through short films and photographs, it captured friendships, achievements, and unforgettable moments that have shaped this cohort.
The celebration concluded with a truly special send-off. As students left the hall, they were “clapped out” through a guard of honour formed by our Year 7 students. It was a lovely moment of connection: our youngest students catching a glimpse of their own future, while Year 11s step confidently towards theirs.
We are incredibly proud of everything this year group has achieved. They leave us not only with memories but with a lasting legacy of kindness, determination, and spirit.
We love you, Year 11, for all that you’ve been,
An inspiring, endearing, unforgettable team.
You’ll always belong, wherever you roam,
Forever a part of our Coombe Dean home.
A huge thank you also goes out to Mrs Duffield and Mr Yeung, who put hours into organising the photos and film and arranging the year 7 guard of honour which made it such a special day.
