International Languages Day

We proudly celebrated International Languages Day across the school.
On Friday 26th September, we celebrated International Languages Day across the school. Students took part in an exciting inter-class competition, with each language class competing to earn top honours.
Although Mrs Koehler-Lewis and her Year 9A class were confident after celebrating a week early—sure they had it in the bag—they were surprised when Mr Daragon’s classes surged ahead! In fact, the top four positions were all taken by classes taught by Mr Daragon. Ultimately, it was Year 8A French who claimed first place and will be celebrating their victory with free lunch vouchers—well done!
Meanwhile, Mr Whittington ran a creative photography competition with a twist: students were asked to capture foreign words in everyday life and submit their photos along with a short explanation. The response was fantastic, with many thoughtful and original entries. The winners have now been selected and (hopefully!) have already collected their prizes. Congratulations to all who took part.
As mentioned in our last newsletter, some of you may have spotted Mrs Koehler-Lewis in a traditional Dirndl, celebrating Oktoberfest, which is currently taking place. Year 10 students also joined in by learning about the festival and enjoying a traditional Bretzl on the day.
To round off the celebrations, teachers and staff came together to create a special video, sharing why they learnt one or more additional languages:
