WE CARE Forest School Ventures

Our Y7 We Care group enjoyed a very different kind of classroom this week!

After a spell of rainy weather, the sun finally broke through just in time for our Year 7 WE CARE group to enjoy a very different kind of classroom on Tuesday 30th September — the Forest School at Saltram House.

Following a short journey from school, the group were welcomed by Kevin, our Forest School leader. After a safety briefing, he encouraged them to explore the treasures of nature all around them. They discovered sticks, berries, conkers, feathers, and even wild mushrooms, as well as evidence of animal tracks.

The group also learnt about fire safety and worked together to collect firewood. Using flint and steel proved a challenge, but after several attempts, Lily’s perseverance paid off and the fire was lit! A scavenger hunt kept everyone busy before the session was rounded off with toasted marshmallows — the perfect treat before heading back to school.

The WE CARE group supports students who are Young Carers, have experienced bereavement, or are part of the Armed Forces community. These opportunities are only possible thanks to the generosity of our supporters. If you would like to offer a workshop, provide an opportunity, or make a donation to help us continue running activities, please get in touch. Donations can also be made via ParentPay.
