Welcome Back: Key Information for the Start of the New Academic Year

We are excited to welcome students back to Coombe Dean for the start of the 2025–26 academic year. To ensure a smooth, positive, and successful return, please take note of the following important information:
Key Dates
- Year 7: Return on Friday 5th September. Students should report to the Assembly Hall by 8:35am for a welcome assembly.
- Years 8–11: Return on Monday 8th September. Students should go directly to their year group areas and line up with tutors and Year Team Leaders by 8:35am.
Attendance and Punctuality
Excellent attendance and punctuality are essential for success. We expect all students to attend every day, on time, unless absence is unavoidable.
- To report an absence, please call the school absence line on 01752 485450 or email attendance@coombedean.co.uk by 8:30am each day.
- Requests for leave of absence must be made in advance using the Absence Request Form, available on our website.
- Please familiarise yourself with our updated Attendance Policy (September 2025), which will be published on the website shortly.
Communication with School
We value our partnership with families. Our updated Communication Guidance (September 2025) outlines:
- Who to contact for different concerns
- How we respond to queries
- Our 48-hour pledge: an acknowledgment or reply within two working days
This guidance will be available on the website and shared directly with families at the start of term.
Uniform and Equipment Expectations
Year Team Leaders will greet students each morning to check uniform and readiness for learning.
Incorrect uniform will be corrected immediately using items from our in-house store. Refusal to comply will result in removal from lessons until expectations are met.
Students must bring:
- A fully stocked pencil case
- Exercise books
- Any subject-specific items required
Uniform Standards Include:
- Plain black blazer
- White formal shirt (collar and buttoned to the top)
- Coombe Dean tie (worn at collar height)
- Black tailored trousers (no skinny, tapered, or stretchy styles)
- Kelso Tartan Kilt in Royal Multi (school skirt)
- Black tailored knee-length school shorts
- Sturdy plain black shoes (no boots or sandals)
- Black or white ankle socks; black or navy tights (no knee-length socks)
- Optional Coombe Dean V-neck jumper (must be worn under blazer)
- School bag (worn on both shoulders)
Jewellery, Hair, and Makeup:
- One plain stud earring per ear, one ring, and a watch only
- No facial piercings
- Hair must be of natural colour and style
- Nails must be fingertip length and natural (neutral varnish allowed; no false nails)
- Natural makeup only; false eyelashes are not permitted
Please visit our website for the latest versions of the Attendance Policy, Absence Request Form, and Communication Guidance. Outdated documents will be removed and replaced ahead of the new term.
