Y9 Geography Field Trip to Dawlish Warren

All of Year 9 embarked onto three coaches to partake in live coastal Geography fieldwork at the scenic Dawlish Warren.

Leaving the rain in our rearview, the Geography staff (and year 9 teachers) had a great day along the coast. Students were able to measure the heights of sand and sediment either side of the groynes for evidence of Longshore Drift on the spit. They then meandered along the coast path to explore a variety of coastal management strategies and techniques, before seeing the epic cave arch stack stump formation in real life.

Students enjoyed a day of practical fieldwork and were able to apply this knowledge to their work on coasts and oceans in real time.

Thank you to all the students for being so engaged and enthusiastic in your work.
