This week, Year 11 students had the fantastic opportunity to visit The Box during lesson time and experience the work of internationally acclaimed artists. The highlight was the current exhibition, Remember Respond Resist, created in collaboration with curators at the Centre for Contemporary Art Łaźnia (CCA Łaźnia) in Gdańsk.

The exhibition features 21 artists from the British Council Collection, including Henry Moore, Hew Locke, Simon Norfolk, Lubaina Himid, David Shrigley, and Andrzej Jackowski. Students explored a diverse range of works – sculpture, textiles, taxidermy, painting, drawing, and collage – organised around three powerful themes:

• Remember – memory and conflict
• Respond – reactions to threats as individuals and society
• Resist – opposition to challenging present-day realities through protest

It was an inspiring experience that connected classroom learning with contemporary art and global perspectives.
